Florida Earth Festival

Florida Earth Festival logoJanice is a Co-Director of Florida Earth Festival, an annual Earth Day event that takes place in Boca Raton, Florida. This festival brings together people, organizations and businesses throughout the region who are doing amazing Earth-friendly things.  From the outset, the festival has included arts and entertainment. Fellow Co-Director Dave VanCamp comes from a performing arts background, and has taken on live music programming on the outdoor Earth Music Stage, while Janice has focused on a variety of arts offerings. In addition to the HighWaterLine Delray Beach public art project, the Florida Earth Festival has presented the following arts offerings in celebration of Earth:

-Premiere of Choral setting of The Earth Day poem, composed by Julliard graduate Aaron Venable, and performed by the Chalice Choir
-Origami Everglades Public Art Project: Schools and civic organizations folded triangles that were used to construct a life sized Florida panther and display it in local libraries to raise awareness about the need for Everglades restoration. Sponsor and Community Partner: M+G Foundation.
-Poetry open mic at the festival. Community Partner: First Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Palm Beaches.
